"BritJam"...- "A fine conserve consisting of a variety of flavors from both Jamaica and Britain.. somewhat spicy and yet distinctively sweet... its not quite Guava Jelly 'tho it might contain some guava or mango or other tropical fruit.. slightly reminiscent of Pepper or Chilli Jelly but not clear enough to be a Jelly... Its tangy, savoury taste is almost related to a chutney... But with the addition of the British.. and the way in which it is made tightly packed and rammed into a small.. well it could only be a Jam!!!"
So I wrote this originally in 2008, at that time, I was merely answering a need that was made apparent by the number of persons asking me to find them a friend or a mate or a love match. I have never been in the dating agency business or match making as a professional. Still I will admit that I have my fair share of experiences and I do meet and connect to lots of interesting folks. At that time I had not even started to consider seriously experimenting with Mangoes and other fruits to make jams, jellies, syrups and sauces and other fruit delights, as I am currently doing.
Since then there has been the inception of the Annual Britjam Party event experience, The term "Britjam" has of course now become much more widely recognized and acknowledged. Still whilst I experiment with Jam and the idea of manufacturing these products and sending them home to Britain. Subsequently pondering on the idea seriously of establishing some type of dating agency, perhaps Mystic Match - as I seem to have some kind of mystic, intuition where it comes to finding complementary, or matching personalities. Still as the old folks say, you can take the donkey to the water but you cant force him to drink! So if I start making matches, that does not necessarily guarantee success as the rest is really up to the individual. Most often persons really don't make enough effort to really connect with their true self, their true identity and when connecting with someone else without being true to your self, what you are actually offering the person is not a real reflection of who you are and what you are offering them as a value proposition. In my humble opinion all relationships are basically constructed of the same core values. Some persons are just not making enough effort to offer enough value in a relationship or friendship even. And when they are looking for solutions, often they are looking outside of themselves. They look to others to blame, to take responsibility, to find solutions, which does not help them to grow or develop emotional intelligence.
So i'm not certain about the dating agency game, as I certainly don't need any additional problems, or headache. And people are so hard to please, trying to please everybody is a sure recipe for disaster!
Still what I did intend to do for my fellow Britjam peeps is to provide a service.. For connecting all of us living at home in the UK, resident in Jamaica or expats elsewhere, through the Facebook group and this blog and other functions etc. So that WE Britjam peeps can connect socially!
Connected to a Sister Organisation JOBS - Jamaicans Overseas (Brothers & Sisters) what I intend to do is to help facilitate connectivity within the network, effective communications of common issues and themes that affect us all as a group. And to help foster better family, communal and cultural relations, within our world. Assisting those who need assistance to connect with their estranged family members, finding vital hereditary, ancestral, genetic information etc
